Your Height, Your Spine and Your Health...
To
most people their height is just the distance from the
bottom of their feet to the top of their head. But to your
chiropractor it is much more.
Gravity is always gently tugging at you, pulling you down
towards the center of the earth. Gravity gives you
traction so you can run and walk and stop. Without
it you’d just keep going. If you jumped up, you’d
never come down; that gentle tug is very important!
If your spine is centered and balanced you are in a
healthy relationship with the earth’s gravity; that gentle
“pull” is spread out evenly over your body, especially
your spine with its many joints, discs, nerves and related
tissues. When you are balanced you feel comfortably
grounded, light on your feet and full of energy.
But if your spine is not balanced gravity can be very
damaging to your joints, discs, nerves, muscles and
related tissues.
Over time your discs may be inflamed, your joints may
distort, your posture will worsen, internal organs will be
stressed and your entire spine will shrink and degenerate.
Gravity’s pull will feel much stronger, you’ll be tired,
drained of energy and you will age more quickly.
Did
you know?
You are taller in the morning compared to the night
before. Lying down takes pressure off your spine and the
disc spaces expand a bit. This is especially obvious
on space flights where astronauts can gain up to 3” of
height living in a weightless (zero gravity) environment.
If Your Spine Has Subluxations…
However
if your spine has Subluxations, tiny distortions causing
nerve stress that your chiropractor is especially trained
to locate (and correct), your relationship to gravity will
be unhealthy. Over time abnormal pressure on your discs
causes them to thin and tear, your bones to distort and
your posture deteriorates. If your Subluxations are not
corrected with a chiropractic adjustment, this process
continues and you start to lose height. The height loss
may seem imperceptible at first, but as time goes by it
becomes more noticeable.
As Time Goes By…
We may look at friends and relatives of
advanced age and see how obvious it is to us that they are
shorter than they used to be. But they didn’t
suddenly wake up one morning as “a little old man or
lady” needing
their clothes altered.
Instead they slowly and gradually lost height,
flexibility, strength, balance, energy and good posture
over the years. Little by little it happened.
After years of quiet yet inexorable spinal degeneration
one day they realize they are shorter but it didn’t start
that day!
On the contrary, their height loss probably began years or
decades earlier, when they were in their teens, 20s or 30s
and the effect of gravity pulling on their unhealthy
(subluxated) spine continued unabated. Without
chiropractic care and a healthy lifestyle they continued
losing height.
Measure
their height…
Height loss is serious! It may be a sign of
long-standing ill-health. Here’s an idea - measure a
friend’s height, but first ask them how tall they think
they are and then measure them. Too often people are
surprised to find that they have lost height. It’s a
powerful wake-up call!
As you continue with chiropractic care and your spine
heals and strengthens your height loss should diminish and
stop. As your spine straightens and rebalances you
may regain some or all of your lost height and experience
greater flexibility, balance, more energy, relaxation and
health. Chiropractic benefits the entire family.
Two Million Americans Plagued by Drug Side Effects Each
Year...
Chiropractic promotes natural immunity.
It’s become
more
apparent that one of the best ways to live a long and
healthy life is to avoid drugs and hospitals as much as
possible. Drugs usually just cover up symptoms, don’t get
to the cause of a condition and are dangerous.
Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) occur in more
than 20% of hospitalized patients and are often associated
with cardio-vascular agents, antibiotics, diuretics,
analgesics and anticoagulants. It has been estimated that
as many as 1.9 million ADRs occur each year, and up to
180,000 of them are life threatening or fatal. (3)
Words of Wisdom...
The most revolutionary act one can commit

In order to create there must be a dynamic force, and what
force is more potent than love? – Igor Stravinsky
I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I
know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are
those who will have sought and found how to serve. –

SARS and Modern Medicine...
Avoiding drugs and hospitals seems to be helpful
in fighting SARS. Dr. Mark Salter of the World
Health Organization stated in the NY Times, "We
seem to be seeing a significantly higher death
rate in areas where there are more advanced forms
of health care….
The
relapses could be a complication of treatment,
perhaps from the use of steroids that so
suppressed the patients' immune systems that they
did not have a chance to develop a strong enough
immune defense against SARS.”
Dr. Randall
Neustaedter comments: “Dr. Salter should examine
natural medical systems that actually stimulate
the immune system’s ability to handle disease.”
P.S. Keep your spine
free from subluxations – that’s a wonderful way to
promote a healthy immune system. (1)
Organic Produce Lowers Pesticides in Kids...
A study published by the National
Institutes of Health reveals that children who eat
more organic foods have a much lower amount of
pesticides. Their parents kept a diet diary
for three days and then provided 24 hour urine
samples for the study.

The non-organic group had six times
the level of pesticide byproducts in their urine
compared to the organic group. One child had no
evidence of pesticides because he was fed a
completely organic diet.
Combining this study with a recent
estimate by the EPA that children in this age
group have three times the cancer risk of adults
exposed to carcinogens, it certainly makes sense
to feed our children organic foods. (2)
